SUBJECT: DNV GL official name change to DNV

Dear Shipowner/Operator/Master:

The purpose of this Marine Advisory is to inform interested parties of the Liberian Administration’s actions following the widely reported name change and rebranding of the classification society DNV GL to DNV. As confirmed in DNV GL’s announcement of 13 January 2021, DNV GL will be rebranded and change its official name to DNV effective 1 March 2021.

Recognition of Statutory Certificates

DNV GL is a Liberian Recognized Organization (RO) and Recognized Security Organization (RSO) and authorized, under its Agreement with the Administration, to perform statutory services and issue statutory certificates on behalf of Liberia.

An amended Agreement recognizing DNV as the successor to DNV GL and as a Liberian RO and RSO will be issued. Until then the existing Agreement with DNV GL is considered as the current Agreement under which DNV will perform statutory services and issue statutory certificates on behalf of Liberia. Existing certificates issued by DNV GL will remain valid, until their expiry date or until reissued.

Continuous Synopsis Record (CSR)

Existing CSR’s which identify DNV GL as the class society, RO or RSO should be treated as identifying DNV and will remain valid, until issuance of a new CSR is required, due to change of other required information.

A copy of this Advisory should be retained on board for presentation to interested parties, including Port State Control Authorities.
