Subject: Seafarers Search Tool on Liberian Registry Website

Dear All Shipowners, Operators, Masters, Manning And Crewing Agents, Authorized Liberian Filing Agents And Port State Control Authorities:

PURPOSE: This Marine Operations Note informs all shipowners, ship management companies, manning/crewing agents, Authorized Liberian Filing Agents and PSC Authorities of the availability to obtain Verification of Liberian Credentials.

APPLICABILITY:

Any interested persons, companies or Authorities who need to obtain Proof of Verification of Liberian Credentials.

STCW Regulation I/2 requires every Party to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended, to make available information on the status of certificates of competency, endorsements and dispensations to other Parties and companies which request verification of the authenticity and validity of certificates produced to them by seafarers seeking recognition of their certificates under regulation I/10 or employment aboard ship.

Liberia has made the above-mentioned information available through electronic means via our online Seafarer Search Tool.

To use this tool the seafarer’s Liberian documents may be confirmed by entering any three of the following parameters:

• First Name
• Last Name
• Book Number
• File Identification Number (FIN)
• Special Qualification Number (SQC) Number
• Certificate/License Number

Users shall notice that the resultant search no longer portrays the Seafarer’s photo.
